Employees Present Food Donation and Funds to Local Charities

Chesapeake, VA (March 10, 2011) – Employees of Jo-Kell Inc., a local electrical distribution and engineering company, presented two local charities with donations collected during their annual food and fund drive at their facility Monday, February 14th.

Present from St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children were Director of Development, Martha Stewart and Director of Annual Giving, Mary Helen Hilton. Present from the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia was Chief Marketing Officer, Susan Mayo; Community Events Manager, Debbie Mergi and Chief Philanthropy Officer, Marianne Smith-Vargas. Jo-Kell Employees presented St. Mary’s with a check for $7,000. The company matched the monetary donations of their 47 Chesapeake employees from the fund drive.

The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia was presented with a certificate reflecting the total amount of all food collected by employees. This year, Jo-Kell employees donated nearly 5,000 pounds of food, which provided over 3,000 meals in the community. Additionally, the Jacksonville branch collected over 500 pounds for their local food bank.

“Our employee’s generosity continues to grow each year,” said Jo-Kell’s CEO, Suzy Kelly. “We all look forward to the annual food and fund drive and the opportunity to help these two special charities,” Kelly added.

Jo-Kell’s annual month long food and fund drive began on October 1st and concluded with an all day employee appreciation celebration on November 11th hosted by owners, Suzy and Marty Kelly, to show appreciation and recognition for all contributions throughout the year.
