CEO Suzy Kelly receives NAWBO Award

Chesapeake, VA (February 3, 2008) – Suzy Kelly, CEO of Jo-Kell Inc., a local
electrical distributor and engineering company received the 2008 Community Service
Award from NAWBO (The National Association of Women Business Owners) on Wednesday, March 19th. The event was held at the Towne Point Club in Norfolk, Virginia.

The prestigious award recognizes women business owners who are influential leaders in their communities. Award recipients must demonstrate a personal commitment to helping the community through general community service or active participation in community, civic, educational, and/or charitable organizations. The receiver must demonstrate through their civic involvements how the quality of life in their community has been enhanced. Nominees for this award act as an inspiration to the community and a credit to their business or profession.

Kelly’s service to the community includes: Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition;The Chesapeake Policy Department Advisory Board; Women Impacting Public Policy; Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Chesapeake Division; Rotary Club; Lead Hampton Roads; co-founder of Leadership Chesapeake (currently Ignite Chesapeake) and Board Member of Norfolk Collegiate School. In addition to her service on community boards and committees, Suzy is also a regional keynote speaker in disaster preparedness for the workforce. She has made presentations including: Taking Care of Business, Organizational Survival Workshop for Pandemic Flu and Disaster Preparedness.
