YWCA Women of Distinction Award Presented to Jo-Kell CEO

Chesapeake, VA (April 26, 2010) – Suzy Kelly, CEO of Jo-Kell Inc., a electrical distribution and engineering company, received the 2010 YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Business on Thursday, April 15th. The award ceremony was held at the Norfolk Marriott Waterside in Norfolk, Virginia.

Each year, the YWCA of South Hampton Roads recognizes outstanding women who made significant contributions to their community through their professional activities and volunteer efforts. Honorees must exhibit a dedication to eliminating racism and empowering women.

“I am honored to receive this prestigious award from the YWCA,” said Kelly. “To be recognized by for my service to the community is very humbling. I have the distinct privilege of having a strong and loyal workforce that continually looks for ways to give back to the community.” Kelly added. A few of Kelly’s professional achievements include: Regional Vice-Chair of ACIBC (Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition); Virginia Chamber of Commerce; Chesapeake Jubilee Chair, 2010; Division Chair and Board Member of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce; Chesapeake Police Department Advisory Board; Women Impacting Public Policy; Board of Trustees Lead Hampton Roads; Executive Advisory council, ODU School of Business; 2008 and Co-Founder, Ignite Chesapeake. Kelly is also a regional keynote speaker in disaster preparedness for the workforce. She has made presentations including: Taking Care of BusinessOrganizational Survival Workshop for Pandemic Flu and Disaster Preparedness.
