Annual Food Drive & Mayflower Marathon
Chesapeake, VA (November 21, 2014) – Jo-Kell’s annual month-long food drive beginning on October 1st, concluded with a delivery of just over 4,000 pounds of food to the 18th Annual Mayflower Marathon food drop for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia on November 21. In an on-air interview with the FM99 WNOR morning DJ about this year’s efforts, Suzy Kelly, Jo-Kell’s CEO, said, “Although we have supported a drive for many years, this year the employee’s main focus was to provide healthier food items as well as family-sized packages.” In addition, Jo-Kell employees in the Jacksonville, Florida branch collected over 1,700 pounds of food for their local food bank, achieving a new all time collection record by the team. The Mandarin Food Bank reported that this was the largest single donation they had ever received. “Our employees generosity, as well as their drive to help others in need, continues for this amazing event as well as other worthwhile causes throughout the year,” said Kelly.
