Jo-Kell Employees Plunge to Raise Money for Special Olympics
Chesapeake, VA (February 13, 2008) – Employees of Jo-Kell Inc., an electrical distribution and engineering Company, raised over $1,800 dollars for Special Olympics of Virginia in the 17th Annual Polar Plunge on February 7, 2009 at the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
This year’s team, the Jo-Kell “Frost Stars,” consisted of employees along with their family members. Employees were able to count on their friends and family as well as non-plunging co-workers to help raise funds for the annual plunge into the frigid waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
With the company matching the donations of the team members, Jo-Kell donated $1,800 to the special cause. Money raised for the annual event goes to the Special Olympics in their community.
“Our employees are not only generous, but a brave group of people,” said Jo-Kell’s CEO, Suzy Kelly. “They are always ready to jump in and support a great cause!”
The Special Olympics Virginia Polar Plunge began in 1993 at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. 3,270 plungers raised more than $853,000 in this year’s plunge.
